Exhibiting at the National Boat Share Show at Braunston Marina in Northampton was a brilliant opportunity to showcase the selling power of 3D spatial capture to boat owners, brokers, and visitors from across the UK. Demonstrating fast 360° tour processing on-site proved just how quickly a venue or vessel can be published online for prospective buyers.
The highlight of the show was producing a 3D Matterport tour of Skylark, a narrowboat managed by Carefree Cruising. Scanning a narrowboat interior is notoriously challenging: with corridors under two meters wide and tight galley spaces, standard wide-angle photography often distorts proportions, making compact spaces look claustrophobic or unnatural.
Using Matterport’s 3D spatial capture resolved these layout constraints. By building an accurate 3D mesh of the cabin, the resulting walkthrough allows buyers to navigate smoothly through every berth, inspect storage layouts, and view a precise floor plan as if stepping aboard in person.
For shared-ownership operators, marine brokers, and managers of unique compact spaces, giving buyers the ability to explore remotely saves hours of wasted travel for physical viewings while driving higher-quality inquiries.
